Javier Olavarria, was managing his family’s paper business in South America when he was first introduced to Barossa Valley Shiraz by a friend. Falling in love with it, and wanting to share that love with others, he decided to start a business importing Australian wines into Chile, Ecuador and Peru under his own label. His next step was to travel to Melbourne and Sydney to attend Fine Food Australia, the largest F&B show in the country.
During his visit J.O. noticed that the oldest Australian spirit, Bundaberg Rum has a very confusing message. Bundaberg is an Australian rum with a German name and a polar bear mascot. He wondered why the vast natural resources and unique spirit of Australia wasn’t reflected in its drinks industry. Feeling inspired, he came up with a plan to change this. NASC and its range of branded super premium spirits Blue Harbour, Wild Wombat and Sliver was born.
